Why the Grey Color Triumphs in Decoration

Neither black nor white. GRAY. Despite the fact that many people consider this color as color without personality, nothing is further from the truth. Through all its tonalities it acquires the necessary strength for each moment or place.

According to the psychology of color, gray stimulates concentration and avoids distractions, and although it lacks energy, it combines with other colors to give them prominence and to achieve both emotional and decorative balance.  Decorate with gray and you will gain elegance and serenity in your home. From pearl gray to blue, it’s one of the decorators’ favorite colors for a reason.

Anyway, do not abuse this color, an excess of gray could generate states of melancholy and sadness.

1. WHY GRAY IS THE NEW BEST NEUTRAL

On the way between black and white, there are as many shades of gray as there are days in the year. And it has been proclaimed as the neutral among the neutrals since while in its darker tones it offers serenity and elegance, in the lightest it is youthful and luminous. And better is that the various shades of gray combine with many colors. How can it not be among our favorites?

2. WHAT COLORS TO MATCH GRAY

It could be said that, in this sense, gray is a multifaceted color. Other neutrals, such as white or gray, soften its effect. Meanwhile, if it is combined with cold tones, such as green or blue, the result is current and modern. For its part, gray with warm tones results in sophisticated, cozy, and modern environments.

3. GRAY AND WOOD: WARMTH GUARANTEED

This combination does not fail. Gray carries the elegant and sophisticated point, almost calm. Meanwhile, the wood gives the environment the warmth that steals this tonality. Then the key is to add textures that enhance that warmth and a warmer tone, such as the beige color of the bedding. Of course, wood is key, but also other elements such as plaids and rugs warm the room.

4. GRAY AND ORANGE: WARMNESS

Thanks to the warmth of the orange tones and boiler, this room is anything but cold. The fibers also help raise the thermometer without saturating the space.

5. GRAY AND WHITE: ELEGANCE THAT DOES NOT FAIL

The mix of both neutrals offers environments that are very, very elegant, sophisticated, and with a chic touch. And, although categorized as cold, gray here raises the temperature and brings warmth.

6. THE WARMTH OF PEARL GRAY

They say gray is cold. Insurance? It depends. And not only of its nuances, but also of how you combine it. And it is that it is the accessories that will help to raise or lower the temperature. Pearl gray can well be interpreted in the cold range, but combined with warm materials, the effect is the opposite. Do you see it?

7. THE DARKEST GRAY

This tone, with a lot of force, goes wonderfully with any tone without diminishing its presence or importance. Even combined with other very powerful colors, such as the coral in the image. In fact, in this bedroom, one could not live without the other, since they soften each other.

8. A COAT OF GRAY PAINT

If you do not dare with an entire wall, you can start including it in the decoration by giving a coat of gray paint to a piece of furniture. The result does not disappoint: it updates the environment and becomes a piece with presence and character.

9. DARK GRAY AND WHITE

Combine these two colors to achieve an elegant and subtle atmosphere in the living room. Although it is best to avoid this combination in the bedroom, as it has too much force and can interfere with your rest.
