A Timeless Renovation Rooted in Tuscan Tradition

Perched among the rolling hills of Florence, Villa M is a masterful reinterpretation of Tuscan living by Pierattelli Architetture. The 1,000-square-meter residence — originally built in the late 1950s — has been completely transformed into a harmonious composition of modern minimalism and timeless regional heritage.

Guided by Andrea Pierattelli, the renovation celebrates simplicity and light, balancing rigorous architectural geometry with the warmth and serenity of its natural surroundings. The result is a home that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to Tuscany’s landscape and cultural memory.

The “White Cube” Concept: Architecture as a Canvas

The guiding idea behind Villa M is the “White Cube” — a pure, neutral framework designed to highlight the surrounding nature and the client’s personality.
Pierattelli’s approach emphasizes light, proportion, and fluidity, creating spaces that act as a canvas for everyday life and artful living.

Large south-facing openings, panoramic windows, and extended terraces invite natural light deep into the interiors. The home’s geometry — simple yet refined — allows for an atmosphere of calm sophistication, where architecture and landscape engage in constant dialogue.

Reimagined Layout and Spatial Flow

The renovation focused on expanding volumes, improving circulation, and enhancing the visual and functional connectivity between interior and exterior spaces.

  • Ground Floor: A generous open-plan living area flows into a minimalist kitchen defined by a marble island and sage-green ribbed cabinetry, complemented by a dining room and library.

  • Upper Floor: Four bedrooms, including two master suites, each open to private terraces with Jacuzzis and panoramic views of Florence’s hills. Colorful furniture and artworks infuse vitality and individuality into the serene setting.

  • Basement Level: A multifunctional retreat featuring a home office, gym, spa zone, cinema room, and practical amenities like laundry and storage — combining luxury and everyday comfort.

Every space is designed to feel open, tactile, and livable, reflecting Pierattelli’s belief that modern elegance lies in proportion, not excess.

Outdoor Living and the Pool House Transformation

Surrounded by terracotta pathways, olive trees, and Mediterranean flora, Villa M’s landscape is a natural extension of the architecture.

The former greenhouse has been transformed into a pool house, now a warm, wood-and-resin-lined retreat that complements the villa’s minimalist aesthetic. A 20-meter pool with teak decking forms the heart of the outdoor composition, while shaded lounges and alfresco dining areas create an inviting rhythm between built and natural spaces.

A vegetable garden in corten steel planters, aromatic herbs, and native plantings reinforce the home’s Tuscan authenticity, celebrating sustainability through design.

Design Details and Refined Materiality

Inside, Villa M is a study in balance and restraint. High-end furnishings from Baxter, Flexform, Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia, and Antonio Lupi enrich the interiors, complemented by custom pieces designed by the studio.

Natural materials — marble, wood, and textured fabrics — contrast against smooth white surfaces, enhancing the tactile narrative of the home.
The result is a refined interior language that feels crafted yet contemporary, maintaining harmony with the villa’s exterior character and the soft Tuscan light.

A Celebration of Tradition and Modernity

Villa M encapsulates Pierattelli Architetture’s design ethos — merging architectural precision with emotional warmth. By preserving the essence of Tuscan architecture and layering it with a contemporary sensibility, the project embodies timeless sophistication.

Through subtle contrasts, thoughtful detailing, and a masterful command of proportion, Villa M demonstrates that true luxury lies in simplicity, authenticity, and context. It is a home that belongs to both its time and its place, standing as a refined expression of Italian architectural artistry.
