Boytorun Architects has reimagined corporate workplace design with the Recordati Office, a 1,500 m² headquarters spread across two storeys in Istanbul’s Maslak Building Office. The project introduces a modern, transparent, and dynamic environment that accommodates around 100 employees, combining flexible workspaces, interactive social zones, and a brand-conscious material palette.
Core Functions and Office Layout
The architects positioned essential units—such as the core, WC, and IT rooms—centrally within the plan, allowing the office areas to be located along the façade. This design strategy ensures maximum natural light for all workstations while keeping service functions discreetly organized.
Transparent partitions in managerial and meeting rooms enhance openness, while exposed workspaces create visual continuity across the office. The result is a setting that feels spacious, connected, and efficient, reflecting the modern needs of a corporate workplace.
Transparency, Light, and Molecular Identity
Daylight and transparency are defining qualities of the Recordati Office. Boytorun Architects employed:
-
Glass partitions to foster openness without losing acoustic comfort.
-
Foil veneers with molecular motifs, reinforcing Recordati’s pharmaceutical identity.
-
Light-colored wall finishes that strengthen the transparent façade and amplify daylight.
This interplay of materials ensures the office feels bright, vivid, and brand-specific, setting a strong corporate identity while maximizing comfort.
Material Palette and Furniture
The design palette balances natural tones with bold accents:
-
Sandstone furniture finishes harmonize with the architecture, keeping the space light and uncluttered.
-
Black tones and wood elements in managerial spaces distinguish them from the open-plan zones.
-
Sliding and folding partitions in meeting rooms create adaptable layouts.
-
Red accents—the corporate color—animate the interior, appearing in the reception lounge, furniture, and joinery details.
This strategic use of color and material strengthens brand recognition while maintaining a professional yet dynamic atmosphere.
Reception and Social Interaction
The reception counter, designed like a crystal, acts as a visual landmark and meeting point for visitors and staff. Warmth and rhythm are added through wooden laths on ceilings and cabinetry, complemented by custom light fixtures—particularly a sculptural installation at the stairwell, visible from circulation areas.
Boytorun Architects also distributed social and resting areas across the office rather than isolating them in a single zone. These spaces include:
-
Felt-covered couches embedded into cabinetry, breaking corridor monotony.
-
Relaxation lounges for rest, informal chats, or group activities.
-
Accessible break areas that encourage frequent interaction and collaboration.
This approach creates a more dynamic and engaging workplace, where employees can recharge throughout the day.
Ceilings, Lighting, and Floors
The ceiling and floor treatments further define the workplace:
-
Metal suspended ceilings counteract monotony in large open areas.
-
Wooden laths with integrated lighting add warmth and variety in communal zones.
-
Flooring patterns introduce movement, while material changes clearly separate work areas from shared spaces.
Together, these elements provide visual zoning and a sense of place, while enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
A Human-Centered Workplace
Above all, the Recordati Office prioritizes employee well-being. Natural light, open layouts, and thoughtfully placed social zones create a workplace that is healthy, motivating, and collaborative.
By integrating corporate branding, sustainable materials, and flexible design strategies, Boytorun Architects has delivered an office that not only supports productivity but also reflects Recordati’s identity as a global pharmaceutical leader.
Why This Office Matters
The Recordati Office by Boytorun Architects demonstrates how corporate headquarters can move beyond uniform workstations to embrace interaction, flexibility, and brand expression. Through transparency, daylight, and dynamic design, the office becomes more than a workplace—it becomes a community hub that inspires people every day.
