A Dialogue Between Architecture and Landscape
Located in the green outskirts of Roldán, near Rosario, the Cantilevered House by Adolfo Schlieper Arquitectos achieves a delicate balance between structure, privacy, and connection to nature. Designed for a family seeking both seclusion and openness, the residence integrates effortlessly with its surroundings, offering a contemporary interpretation of living in harmony with the landscape.
Integrating Architecture with Nature
Set within a gated community where architecture gradually dissolves into green space, the house embraces a design language that prioritizes openness and continuity. The entire length of the home faces south, while its northern exposure remains open to sunlight and garden views—an intentional decision to capture the winter sun and enhance the usability of the pool area during summer months.
The building composition features solid brick masonry planes on the ground floor that provide structure and privacy, extending outward to merge with the surrounding garden. These planes act as spatial dividers rather than barriers, guiding movement through the home while framing curated views of nature.
Spatial Flow and Light
Inside, the design transforms circulation into experience. Corridors and transitional areas are not dark or secondary; instead, they invite light, air, and vegetation inward. Small interior courtyards punctuate the plan, dissolving boundaries between interior and exterior. One such courtyard is found at the main entrance, where a recessed patio conceals the entryway, creating both intrigue and privacy.
This spatial interplay extends vertically. The master bedroom occupies the upper level, cantilevering dramatically toward the front façade. This gesture not only defines the project’s name but also provides a sheltered carport below. The elevated volume appears to float above the solid base, articulating a dialogue between mass and void, weight and lightness.
Material Expression and Structure
Materiality plays a central role in conveying the home’s identity. The brick masonry—with smooth joints and subtle craftsmanship—anchors the structure to the land, echoing local traditions while adopting a minimalist language. The cantilevered upper volume, rendered in lighter tones, creates a refined contrast, emphasizing the architectural balance between permanence and suspension.
Outdoor Living and Connection
A separate barbecue pavilion expands the living experience outdoors, providing a social and recreational hub for family gatherings and events. Oriented toward the garden and pool, this space captures framed views of the property’s edges, reinforcing the project’s guiding concept of openness and visual continuity.
Through its precise composition and sensitive material palette, Cantilevered House reflects Adolfo Schlieper Arquitectos’ ongoing exploration of residential design that fuses context, climate, and contemporary form. It is an architecture that invites reflection and relaxation—a home that feels simultaneously grounded and free.
