A Light-Filled Urban Haven

The client for this project—a young professional with an intense schedule—asked Alexander Tischler design company to create a space that would feel warm, quiet, and restorative.
The result is an apartment where soft minimalism meets tactile comfort, defined by calm neutrals, oak veneer cabinetry, and subtle contrasts in texture and tone. Every detail was designed and executed by the studio’s integrated team—designers, engineers, and finishing specialists—ensuring that concept and realization align seamlessly.

From Constraints to Clarity

The original layout presented several challenges: limited natural light, a tiny walk-in closet, and restricted space for the external air-conditioning unit.
Through a precise reconfiguration, the team removed partitions, expanded the walk-in closet, and relocated the hallway to enlarge both bathrooms. The design now unfolds as a single, light-filled continuum from the entry to the master bedroom.

  • The entryway and living area are separated only by a shallow cabinet, allowing sunlight from the window to reach deep into the space.
  • A utility block discreetly houses the ventilation system.
  • The loggia, previously unusable in summer heat, now contains a compact, sound-insulated room for both the external AC unit and the supply ventilation—ensuring efficiency without altering the façade.

This thoughtful reorganization transformed the small apartment into an environment that feels open, functional, and balanced.

Material Harmony & Tailored Craftsmanship

Natural warmth and lightness define the material palette.
The kitchen combines oak-veneered cabinetry with a custom stain developed for this interior. Extending the lower cabinets to the full-height window created a continuous four-meter countertop that acts as both workspace and visual anchor.

In the living zone, a sofa with an ottoman doubles as concealed storage, while a sculptural dining table with an upholstered base softens the minimal lines. A movable wall lamp bridges the dining and lounge areas, reinforcing flexibility and intimacy.

Throughout, built-ins are finished to blend with the architecture:

  • In the hallway, a large closet painted to match the walls conceals laundry appliances, while a mirrored door expands perceived space.
  • A second, full-height mirror framed flush between wall panels adds a “portal-like” depth effect.
  • The floating cabinet at the entrance hides a docking station for the robotic vacuum, keeping technology discreetly integrated.

Bedrooms: Function, Calm, and Light

The master bedroom is conceived as a personal sanctuary—bright, serene, and effortlessly functional. A floating bed with recessed legs enhances the sense of airiness, paired with a low wall panel that accentuates horizontal continuity.
A console vanity and backlit round mirror add subtle luxury, while a dark minimalist desk and open shelving provide a refined workspace.

The walk-in closet, expanded slightly into the guest bath, features custom cabinetry with mirrors on full-height hinged doors, maximizing storage and visual depth.
The guest bedroom, adaptable as a child’s room, was gently reduced in size to widen the adjacent bathroom—illustrating the team’s balance between form and practicality.

Bathrooms: Soft Light and Spa-Like Precision

The main bathroom’s focal point is a window overlooking the modern neighborhood, softly shaded with bamboo blinds that withstand humidity.
The bathtub is wrapped in travertine-textured porcelain tile, matching the wall finish, with the entire frame subtly sloped to drain water seamlessly.
Opposite the entrance, a wall-mounted vanity with integrated sink maintains visual lightness, while concealed cabinetry adds function without clutter.

Every detail—from integrated lighting to recessed shelving—was designed to enhance calm and continuity.
