The Best Rustic, Mountain Houses You’ll Ever See (Part I)

From north to south we have selected 10 of the best mountain and country houses where you can enjoy the winter curled up in a tasty blanket or escape no matter the season.

1. A CABIN EMBRACED BY WOOD

Wood on the floor, wood on the walls, wood on the ceiling… Wood and more wood. And it is that this cabin in the Vall d’Aran should not only be a refuge but look like it. This viewpoint, with spectacular views of the snowy landscape, is an invitation to rest and to be fully in tune with its exceptional surroundings.

2. A MODERN, COZY AND VERY WARM ROOM

The living room, organized in two heights and with a sloping ceiling, has been clad in wood, like the rest of the house. The success is to update the rustic style with light colors and rectilinear furniture that mixes with other more traditional ones. Discover the rest of the secrets that this house hides.

3. A SPECTACULAR ROOM ON TWO LEVELS THAT IS A VIEWPOINT

Seeing this room and not declaring your undying love is almost impossible. If its imposing height or that fireplace that is almost a sculpture does not beat you, the oak wood that surrounds the floor, walls and ceiling will do it as if it were a magic box or the spectacular views that creep into the house through its XL windows ..

4. EVERYTHING MADE TO MEASURE WITH A MAIN FIREPLACE

The fireplace in the living room has been covered with paper that imitates pony skin. The sofa is a design of the owner, which adapts to space.

5. FROM DARK TO WHITE: THE REBIRTH OF A MOUNTAIN HOUSE

Before the decorator Carolina Juanes did her magic, this little house of barely 80 m 2 had another skin: dark wood, as mountain houses were made two decades ago in the Vall d’Aran. With the change of look, the wood was maintained but stained with this white patina that gives it a Nordic air so bright and cozy.

6. THE REFUGE OF THE ALPS

It’s not there but it looks like it. In fact, it is in the Vall d’Arán. And it is not a new work. Nerd. It is a reform that managed to open a dark apartment to light and landscape and give it a British air.

7. A LOT OF WHITE!

Everything was thrown, except doors and windows. The same luminosity that the living room has was brought to each room of the house, making use of the wood that has an aged patina. Textiles add a touch of color.

8. THE PERFECT SHELTER IN THE SNOW

Warm, comfortable, bright, and decorated in a very inviting rustic style. The hallmark of this house in the snow is the windows and open skylights in the white-stained roof. Thus they let the sun enter this room and, together with the textiles, create a cozy and warm atmosphere.

9. A MOUNTAIN REFUGE FOR WINTER (AND SUMMER)

This house is the best hideaway for cold and snowy afternoons. But also to experience nature in the hot months. Its interiors surround you, starting with the living room with a comfortable sofa that invites you to lie down in the warmth of the fireplace, the original of the house.

10. A CHECKERED INTERIOR

The paintings are associated with the rustic style and it is in this room the most striking element, the ones that decorate the paper. Do you dare with a fabric or paper to create this effect? The fireplace and the wood do the rest.
