Ottawa River House by Christopher Simmonds Architect

Christopher Simmonds Architect,Β a Canadian studio, have designed the Ottawa River House with a goal to design a home with imposing views while enjoying an intimate connection with its courtyard and the nearby Ottawa river.
We’ve already featured designs from the studio behind this project, the Fraser Residence and the Gatineau Hills Home, so we know to expect yet another flawless design. And that is exactly what the Ottawa River House is -a perfect contemporary home with an open floor plan, interconnecting the kitchen, living and dining areas.

To move through this home on the Ottawa River is to enjoy a carefully orchestrated sequence of encounters with its picturesque natural setting. Views and light penetrate the spatial composition throughout its interlocking interior volumes. An elongated entry with a natural cedar planked ceiling brings visitors by way of the southerly courtyard to the very core of the site and the home. The result is a home with stunning views, and which enjoys both an intimate connection with the courtyard and a more expansive connection with the river.

This home was the winner of Best Custom Home and Best Custom Bathroom, in their size categories.
