Topway Space Design has redefined showroom and brand architecture with the new Golde Ceramic Tiles Headquarters in Foshan, China, completed in 2023. Inspired by the butterfly’s graceful metamorphosis, the 5,000 m² space unfolds as both an artistic brand statement and a poetic environment that merges fashion, minimalism, and nature.
A Brand Rooted in Fashion and Art
Golde’s history is tied to fashion and creativity—its story dating back to the 1920s in Paris, where founder Golde Schwab’s vision fused with design icon Coco Chanel. Today, that legacy continues in its ceramics, combining natural textures with fashion sensibilities to deliver products that express discreet luxury through refined simplicity.
From Chrysalis to Butterfly
The design concept draws directly from the metaphor of transformation. Just as a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis, the headquarters embodies rebirth, elegance, and motion.
-
Black, white, and grey palettes emphasize Italian minimalist aesthetics.
-
Cement-textured walls, statuary white marble stairs, and silk-screened glass set a restrained yet luxurious tone.
-
A stainless steel butterfly sculpture and a navy-blue stone reception desk symbolize fashion, strength, and refinement.
Morning sunlight filtering through grid glass windows transforms the lobby into a dynamic play of shadows and light, imbuing the space with mystery and reverence.
Poetic Interplay of Light and Form
Topway uses geometric layering, interlocked blocks, and double-layered hollow structures to create rhythm and depth. The branding wall’s layered blocks not only suggest order and power but also act as memory cues for visitors, reinforcing Golde’s identity.
Light and shadow across the white glass walls evoke abstract paintings, while delicate textures reveal themselves gradually, creating a dialogue between simplicity and elegance.
The White Forest: A Mystical Journey
Beyond the lobby, visitors enter a forest-like realm, where stainless steel columns of varying thicknesses simulate trees. Mist machines produce a dreamlike fog, enhancing the surreal quality of the “white forest.”
-
A U-shaped pathway introduces a sense of ritual and discovery.
-
The installation blurs boundaries between reality and imagination.
-
Visitors experience a butterfly-like journey, where art, nature, and spirit merge.
This immersive forest emphasizes Golde’s philosophy: design should be both sensory and soulful, inviting calm introspection amidst beauty.
Ecological Purity and Product Innovation
The headquarters is not only an aesthetic statement but also a showcase of product benefits:
-
Formaldehyde degradation and antimicrobial properties.
-
Reduced interior pollution through innovative ceramic technology.
-
Far-infrared rays and negative ions, visualized through a transformative LED wall, illustrating the science behind Golde’s eco-conscious products.
Minimalist cultural symbols reinforce these values, presenting technology and ecology as part of an elevated lifestyle.
The Golde Ceramic Tiles Headquarters by Topway Space Design demonstrates how a brand space can become an immersive narrative environment. By drawing on fashion, art, and nature, the project transcends showroom typology, becoming a stage where products, architecture, and visitors interact.
With its poetic choreography of light, shadow, and material, the project elevates ceramics beyond construction materials, transforming them into symbols of luxury, ecology, and imagination.
