Located in Moscow, this spacious 188 m² apartment designed by Lesya Pechenkina of Simple Interiors perfectly blends French elegance with American comfort. Tailored for a family of four, with two daughters passionate about acting and travel, the apartment combines artistic expression with functionality. The design masterfully incorporates timeless French sophistication while embracing American practicality to create a home that is both luxurious and livable.

Design Concept

The design features an open-plan layout that merges three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a study, and generous communal spaces. The central element of the apartment is a combined living and dining area, where a piano takes center stage, symbolizing the family’s love for music. Bedrooms are thoughtfully separated by elegant double doors, offering privacy while maintaining visual continuity throughout the space.

French and American Influences

French influences are evident in the apartment’s wall moldings, the “French herringbone” parquet flooring, and the selection of vintage furniture. In contrast, the American design influence is expressed through the open layout and the use of bold, durable materials. The neutral cream and pastel tones provide a light, airy backdrop, while terracotta, blue, and brass accents add vibrancy and warmth.

The entrance is marked by a striking console table from the Phillips Collection, resembling a silver-leafed tree trunk, and a large framed mirror. These elements create a grand first impression. The living room features a curved wall that complements a semicircular sofa and a round carpet, creating a sense of flow and harmony. A marble fireplace, imported from France, and a Blue Roma marble kitchen backsplash bring a touch of timeless elegance to the space.

Personalized Bedrooms

The design of the daughters’ bedrooms reflects their individual personalities and interests. The elder daughter’s room is inspired by her passion for cinema, with a Paramount Theatre panel, a film reel-shaped bookshelf, and a tripod floor lamp. Meanwhile, the younger daughter’s room is designed using caramel and graphite tones, with a chocolate bar-inspired panel behind the bed, adding a playful yet stylish touch.

Smart Home Integration

The apartment is equipped with a state-of-the-art “Smart Home” system, seamlessly merging classical design with modern convenience. Custom-made furniture and carefully layered decorative elements ensure that every corner of the apartment is both functional and tailored to the family’s lifestyle.

Conclusion

Lesya Pechenkina’s design for this Moscow apartment captures the timeless appeal of French classical design while embracing the practicality and warmth of American style. The result is a harmonious and bespoke space that offers both elegance and comfort, creating a home that feels both artistic and functional, perfectly suited to the needs of its inhabitants.
