6 Nesting Ideas for This Winter

The slow style, whether in the art of living or the decoration, invites us to question ourselves on what is essential for us. He invites us to do less but better. That’s why the concept of nesting appeals to me a lot. It is not strictly speaking a decorative style (at least not yet ..) but since it is a question of spending a little more time at home, it seemed interesting to us to look into the question. Especially when winter is just around the corner. We go out less, we stay better at home. But then, how to transform your interior into a cozy nest?

1. REGAIN BALANCE IN THE LIVING ROOM

There are certain rooms in the house that are more suitable for nesting. The bedroom and the living room are parts of the house which – par excellence – are an invitation to have a good time without going out. What is interesting about the question of nesting is that there is a balance to be found. On the one hand, this balance is found in the going out / staying warm ratio. On the other hand, we will also try to find this balance in our room. To create your nest, it is good to take a step back from the way you live in the house. To create a nest in the living room, maybe it would be good to declutter a bit before winter. Why not also change the arrangement of the furniture to make it more pleasant daily.

2. A KITCHEN TO PREPARE GOOD MEALS

Although so far we have mostly been talking about the living room, it is not the only room in the house where it is good to practice nesting. Cooking works too. We take advantage of staying at home to cook. Take back possession of your kitchen. Take advantage of the gloomy weather outside to cook and rediscover the taste of seasonal vegetables.

3. CULTIVATE THE ART OF NAPPING

My article is dedicated to nesting in winter but the nap is good for all year round. When it is summer, it can be practiced in the garden on a sunbath or a hammock. When it is colder, this art is practiced indoors. In the living room – for an unexpected nap in front of a movie as thrilling as it is. In the room for those who want to savor this moment. Life is much nicer after taking a nap, we can assure you! Back to our story of nesting, staying at home to take care of yourself and take a nap, yes! But not just any old way. Make sure to magnify that time of day when you are going to sleep. Air out the bedroom before taking a nap. Make sure you sleep in the darkness. Put you at ease. And if you are worried that you won’t sleep at night because of your nap, put on an alarm clock.

4. CREATE A NEST IN THE BEDROOM – STORAGE

We don’t know if you’ve ever watched a bird make its nest. It is an activity that we recommend, it is very very relaxing. A bird’s nest is not a heap of odds and ends in a ball. Everything is in a specific place which forms like a weave. And it is this idea that is interesting to keep in mind. How would you weave your nest in the bedroom? We did not mention in the 1st point about the living room, to take full advantage of your room, it may be good to do a big sorting and good storage.

5. THE BATHROOM – A MOMENT TO RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES

We think we can quickly agree on the fact that every day we don’t necessarily have time to take a long bubble bath or a long shower. But on weekends, it can be different. If you don’t have to go out to visit your grandparents on Sunday at noon, you can take an hour in the bathroom to take care of yourself. You can ask your partner to occupy the children for an hour on the weekend without the house risking collapsing. And if you have a family bathroom, nesting starts with a little tidying up. It’s still easier to relax when you have a tidy room. Candles can help you relax and create a relaxing atmosphere.

6. NESTING IN THE BEDROOM – FLANNEL SHEETS ARE YOUR ALLY

In addition to the storage and the fact of sleeping better when it is not Beirut in your room, you can improve the comfort thanks to the bed set. And what could be better in the dead of winter than to slip into a warm, soft bed made of flannel. Yes, flannel is often associated with grandparents. But it is also a perfect textile for sleeping warm. For those who are very cautious, in addition to flannel, we can also think of a hot water bottle to warm the bed before going to sleep. The hot water bottle has a lot of advantages.
