From culturally rooted designs to automotive-branded masterplans, these developments showcase the diverse approaches shaping Dubai’s built environment.
Dubai Design District (d3) Expanded Masterplan
On January 5, 2026, Meraas unveiled an ambitious expansion for Dubai Design District, transforming the 18 million square foot area into a fully integrated creative-led waterfront neighborhood. Situated between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek, the masterplan represents a sophisticated response to the growing demand for design-focused urban living.
The project’s most compelling architectural feature is the Design Line—a fully shaded, pedestrian-first spine that seamlessly connects the entire district. This central artery activates the neighborhood through public art installations, creative displays, community spaces, and landscaped green corridors, establishing a walkable, human-centric environment that strengthens d3’s identity as one of Dubai’s most design-forward urban neighborhoods.
The masterplan organizes the district into five distinct zones, each with its own architectural character. At the heart of the architectural vision lies Mercedes-Benz’s “Sensual Purity” design philosophy—the same principle that defines the automotive brand’s vehicles. Created in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz’s leading design minds, the exterior composition emphasizes clean surfaces, visual restraint, and sculptural form. The centrepiece building, “Vision Iconic,” connects with surrounding structures through a cohesive architectural language that conveys dynamism and movement.
Horizontal podium lines echo the brand’s signature “Iconic Grille,” while a floating effect above the podiums emphasizes elegance. Technical silver and chrome accents throughout reference Mercedes-Benz’s automotive heritage, creating a distinctive and instantly recognizable skyline presence.
The landscape design envisions a sanctuary where nature and innovation converge. The Grand Promenade forms a green spine connecting signature zones including Crown Arena for events, Picnic Grove, Meadow Pavilion, and family-focused areas. Elevated paths and green corridors link podium amenities with the wider park to encourage community life. The ecosystem integrates mobility hubs, retail boulevards, wellness zones, and entertainment spaces, creating a self-sustained “city within a city” where residents have everything within walking distance. Pricing ranges from $435,000 for studios to multi-million dollar duplexes, with completion targeted for Q2 2028.
The Symphony by Imtiaz x Zaha Hadid Architects, Meydan
Launched on November 18, 2025, The Symphony Tower represents Zaha Hadid Architects’ exploration of culturally rooted design within the Gulf region. The $272 million, 42-storey tower rises in Meydan Horizon, positioned between the racecourse and Ras Al Khor wetlands.
The building’s defining architectural feature is an illuminated lattice exoskeleton inspired by Al Sadu and Talli—traditional Emirati crafts of weaving with metallic threads. This interlaced structural framework transforms age-old textile techniques into parametric, contemporary form. The precision-engineered exoskeleton creates a dynamic geometry that shifts in tone and depth as sunlight moves throughout the day, producing a living, pulsating presence on the façade.
Beyond its sculptural beauty, the exoskeleton serves dual structural and environmental functions. The woven exterior provides natural shading across the façade, reducing solar heat gain in Dubai’s intense climate. The terraces integrated within the exoskeleton framework shelter outdoor living areas, providing residents with comfortable external spaces throughout much of the year.
The tower employs modular construction methods with recycled steel, low-carbon concrete, and responsibly sourced finishes to decrease embodied carbon. Water consumption is reduced through greywater recycling, low-flow fixtures, and drought-tolerant landscaping. The 38,000-square-meter mixed-use development includes residences, Grade-A office spaces, and retail units, with pricing ranging from $544,000 to $5.4 million for penthouses. Completion is scheduled for 2028-2029.

The 2.6 million square meter development introduces the world’s first drive-through mall design at Dubai Creek Harbour, featuring skylights, sculpted LED installations, glazed roofs, and expansive glass façades that create an open, contemporary environment.
