A Radiant Expression of Summer Living
Set in the exclusive enclave of Sotogrande in Cádiz, Spain, Sotogrande House by A-cero is a pristine example of contemporary Mediterranean architecture. Designed by the Madrid-based studio led by Joaquín Torres and Rafael Llamazares, the residence celebrates clarity, light, and relaxed elegance—all expressed through a striking palette of white.
With its geometric form, expansive outdoor spaces, and seamless interior-exterior flow, this 4,300-square-foot summer residence embodies the essence of refined coastal living.
A Monochromatic Palette with Purpose
A-cero’s design concept is rooted in the use of white as the central element—white marble floors, white lacquered furniture, white gravel walkways, and sun-washed terraces. The deliberate monochromatic treatment provides more than aesthetic purity; it creates a calming, luminous atmosphere aligned with the home’s function as a seasonal retreat.
“White creates a relaxed atmosphere, supporting the playful intentions of the owners,” explain the architects.
Inside, subtle contrasts are introduced through touches of beige and dark wood, while sculptural furniture—custom-designed by A-cero—further anchors the minimalist yet warm aesthetic.
Spatial Flow Across Two Levels
The home is organized into two primary volumes:
-
Ground Floor: Dedicated to communal living, this level features the lounge, dining room, kitchen, and a central hall. Four bedrooms, staff quarters, and a utility area are also situated here, each with direct access to the exterior recreation zones.
-
Upper Level: A more private setting, used flexibly depending on the occupants’ needs during their stay.
Large glass openings allow natural light to flood the interiors while maintaining privacy through strategic landscaping and architectural framing.
Outdoor Living as an Extension of the Interior
The outdoor spaces are designed for leisure and social interaction. A 90 m² swimming pool anchors the terrace, surrounded by sunbeds, lounge furniture, and wide open areas ideal for hosting gatherings. The smooth visual and physical continuity between inside and outside encourages a lifestyle of ease, connection, and celebration.
Architectural forms are restrained yet powerful—pure volumes rendered in white stone and crisp detailing that reflect the regional identity while elevating it through contemporary execution.
A Summer House with Personal Touches
While the design is unmistakably A-cero, the owners have left their own mark with curated design pieces like Piet Hein lamps and custom seating in the games room. These touches lend individuality and warmth to the otherwise minimalist palette.
Sotogrande House by A-cero is more than a residence—it is a summer sanctuary where architecture, light, and landscape merge into a harmonious retreat. With its commitment to simplicity, material quality, and seamless indoor-outdoor integration, the house reflects the best of contemporary Spanish coastal design.
