- Area: 400 m2
Babayants Architects has completed V House, a 400 m² (4,305 sq ft) one-story residence in the Moscow region. Designed for a family deeply connected to design, the project reflects a desire for conceptual experimentation, transparency, and simplicity, with light playing the central role in shaping the home’s atmosphere.
A Transparent Architectural Vision
The defining characteristic of V House is its extensive glazing. At the client’s request, the architecture blurs the boundary between inside and out, creating a sense of openness and visibility. While the main living spaces are transparent, privacy is preserved through carefully closed facades on sides facing neighboring plots. To the rear, the house opens onto a dense forest, enhancing the home’s connection to nature.
The client also requested a graphite-toned exterior—a minimalist and stylish expression that emphasizes visual cleanliness.
Light as the Main Character
Light was treated as a design material in its own right. It:
-
Fills and reflects, creating layers of depth.
-
Defines textures, rhythms, and perspectives across volumes.
-
Animates both the interiors and exteriors, transforming the home throughout the day.
The result is a home where light itself becomes the primary storyteller of space.
Program and Layout
The single-level residence is organized around fluid family living:
-
Entrance hall with utility storage
-
Kitchen-dining area with panoramic glazing on both sides
-
Living room extending to a forest-facing terrace
-
Guest room and guest bathroom located on a mezzanine
-
Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom
-
Two children’s rooms with shared bathroom
-
Pool block and boiler room
-
Carport for two cars, discreetly hidden from main recreational zones
This balanced program provides both family intimacy and social openness, ensuring functionality without sacrificing elegance.
A Mini Art Object – The Acrylic Bench
One of the project’s most distinctive features is the translucent acrylic bench at the entrance. Designed in colored acrylic, it serves as both seating and a miniature art installation, drawing the eye immediately.
Its reflective properties interact with the home’s large glass panels—including those surrounding the pool—creating complex plays of light and water reflections that enrich the overall spatial experience.
A Modern Family Haven
V House is not just a residence but a conceptual platform where design, light, and landscape interact seamlessly. By combining panoramic transparency, minimalist materials, and a poetic use of natural light, Babayants Architects has crafted a home that is both visually striking and intimately livable.
