What Are You Waiting For to Throw These Tablecloths?

You sure have a lot of tablecloths and only use four.Β So why do you keep them?Β If their color does not match anything, their shape does not suit you or you do not like them, it is best to give them away or turn them into something else (such as rags or table runners).Β And if they are somewhat worn, those yes, throw them away.

1. A PATTERNED TABLECLOTH YOU DON’T LIKE ANYMORE

Because you see it out of fashion, because of the color, the reasons… If that patterned tablecloth gets used to being at the bottom of the drawer when you dress your table, it will be for something. If you are not passionate about it, do not think about it anymore and make rags with it.

2. THAT TABLECLOTH THEY GAVE YOU AND IT DOESN’T HIT YOU WITH ANYTHING

Suddenly someone gives you a blue (or green) tablecloth and you think that nothing hits you but you appreciate the gift, of course. And months and years go by and you haven’t used it even once. And of course, it’s new, because it is. What can you do? Give it to someone who can take advantage of it and likes its color and looks good with the dishes. It is not your case.

3. A TABLECLOTH THAT WAS ONCE WHITE (BUT NO LONGER)

A white tablecloth is a basic that every table (and home) should have.Β But white over time can take on an unflattering yellowish tone for your dining room.Β When your white tablecloth is no longer so white it may be time to replace it.Β Remember, you should always wash them with clothes of the same color.Β To try to whiten it, try soaking it with baking soda.

4. A VERY DARK TABLECLOTH THAT DWARFS THE DINING ROOM

It seems incredible how that dark gray tablecloth that you found super elegant in the store makes your dining room seem even smaller.Β There are colors that you should avoid especially if your dining room is not especially large or bright.Β As much as you contrast with white plates, you need the surrounding space to be wider and decorated in light tones if you don’t want the tablecloth to eat up space. It’s a shame because it sure is cute.

5. A TABLECLOTH THAT YOUR MOTHER MADE BUT THAT IS NOT YOUR STYLE

If you have a mother (or aunt) who is passionate about patchwork or embroidery, you will surely have more than a tablecloth or two at home that she has made for you.Β And although you like it and it has obvious sentimental value, you never use it. In that case, we do not tell you to throw it away or give it away, but we do tell you to put it in another drawer. Not the one for everyday tablecloths.Β The same in the same closet box in which you have other family memories or in the home linen closet.Β But it’s not worth having on hand if you don’t use it.

6. ONE WITH LACE THAT YOU INHERITED BUT NEVER USED

Lace tablecloths are the typical thing that you may have inherited from your grandmother.Β It is something as classic as the sheets with your initials.Β But, face it, you’ve never (and never will) put it on your table.Β You can try to save the lace and not the tablecloth (which is smooth) and thus keep a memory of your grandmother.Β Another possibility is to dye it a fashionable color.Β Anyway, you do use it. Do youΒ dare?
