The Greenstyle residential complex in Carate Brianza, nestled in the Valle del Lambro Regional Park, is a next-generation development where sustainability, technology, and well-being intersect. Designed by Castello Lagravinese Studio, this 140 m² penthouse with an 80 m² terrace redefines modern living through energy efficiency, smart technologies, and timeless Italian design.
Panoramic Entrance & Terrace
The penthouse entrance opens to a panoramic window framing the south-facing terrace. At its heart, a lush planter with evergreen species becomes the natural centerpiece, around which all rooms are arranged.
The terrace offers sunlight from dawn to dusk, with sweeping views of poplar trees that create an ever-changing backdrop. At night, perimeter LED lighting transforms the terrace into a warm and inviting space, perfect for relaxation or entertaining.
Open-Plan Living & Dining
At the core of the apartment is a multifunctional open living space, seamlessly connecting the kitchen, dining, and living areas. A dual-sided sofa adapts for watching TV or enjoying terrace views, reflecting the fluid transition between indoors and outdoors.
The Wunderkammer living room is curated with personal objects — flea-market treasures, travel finds, industrial vintage pieces, and recycled art, including a motorcycle tank repurposed into a sculpture. Unique furnishings include:
- Birch log coffee table with a brass top
- Airline trolley converted into Porsche model display storage
- 1930s French industrial cabinet with flexible drop-down panels
- Green swivel armchair restored by master upholsterers in Brianza
Every detail reflects the owners’ passion for design and personalization, creating a home that evolves over time.
The kitchen and dining zone integrate into a ceramic slab wall, concealing a flush door to the study/guest room — the apartment’s only colored interior.
Master Bedroom & Walk-In Closet
The master suite is a multifunctional retreat enhanced by floor-to-ceiling doors and recessed LED lighting that visually connects the living area, corridor, and en-suite.
Highlights include:
- A dual-purpose wooden shelf functioning as both desk and storage
- Smoked glass partitions concealing a walk-in closet and shower
- Industrial relics, such as a 1950s Royal Navy cabinet and a 1940s Polish military chest
- Cactus-inspired wallpaper linking interiors with the terrace greenery
The en-suite bathroom is clad in floor-to-ceiling tiles, while a secondary bathroom includes a discreet pet passage, providing terrace access for pets.
Smart Home Technology
The Greenstyle apartment integrates advanced home automation, centralizing control of lighting, climate, and shutters via smartphone or tablet. Residents enjoy:
- Custom lighting scenarios
- Real-time energy monitoring
- Voice-controlled smart speaker integration
- Remote intercom access
This smart technology optimizes energy use and ensures ultimate comfort.
Materials & Lighting Design
The material palette emphasizes spatial continuity and warmth:
- Uniform parquet flooring
- Textured ceramics from Laminam and Mirage
- Wooden acoustic slats with brass accents
- Concrete-effect walls enhanced with brass rods
Lighting is another standout feature, with directional recessed spotlights, dimmable LED strips, and sculptural lamps by Flos, Occhio, and Enostudio.
“The moodboard of the house is warm yet brutalist: concrete walls, wooden elements, and ceramics with material depth,” explains Alessandro Castello.
