Known for innovative projects in architecture, interior design, and broadcast environments, Istanbul-based BAB Architects has unveiled the Sports Digitale YouTube Studio, a compact yet versatile design inspired by the spirit of sports.
Led by architect İrem Arıbaş, interior architect Hüseyin Beş, and interior architect Yurdaer Beş, the firm has successfully delivered projects both nationally and internationally. For Sports Digitale, the team designed a 70sqm YouTube studio that offers multiple set variations for diverse content production, covering a wide range of sports disciplines.
Despite its compact footprint, the design maximizes space efficiency and creates a dynamic, energetic, and friendly atmosphere that reflects the excitement of sports while maintaining a professional broadcast standard.
Maximizing Space with Flexible Design
The studio interior is strategically designed to accommodate multiple zones within a limited footprint. BAB Architects achieved this by integrating demountable wall panels, reflective ceiling elements, and multifunctional partitions.

Reflective ceiling and flooring: Glossy finishes and ceiling mirrors increase the sense of height while evenly diffusing background colors across the set.

Adaptable wall panels: Walls transform between brick and polycarbonate surfaces, supported by advanced lighting systems for seamless theme changes.

Mesh panels: These serve both as dynamic design elements and as flexible shelving units.
The careful use of space ensures that the studio remains both practical and visually engaging, allowing quick transformations for various sports-related productions.
Creating Atmosphere: Materials and Lighting
BAB Architects introduced a material palette that blends contrast and texture to bring warmth to the industrial setting. Authentic rugs add comfort to the interview areas, creating intimacy in contrast to the polished studio finishes.
The lighting strategy plays a central role, with integrated systems that allow quick adjustments for different broadcast moods. This flexibility ensures the studio can support diverse visual identities across multiple sports programs.
Functional Integration of Control Zones
The transition between the main studio and the control and broadcast management areas is designed to be smooth and efficient. Movable design elements, such as a wheeled decorative panel with a curtain, function as both a camera-friendly backdrop and a practical partition, allowing direct access without disrupting the usable space.
This approach maintains the studio’s flexibility while ensuring the technical team operates seamlessly alongside on-camera activities.
