Fireplace by Bedrock, designed by Hot Design Folks Studio, is a wood-fired grill restaurant that redefines elemental cooking in Singapore’s One Holland Village. This project combines culinary artistry, sensory storytelling, and architectural design, weaving together the primal essence of fire with a contemporary dining experience.

As an extension of the award-winning Bedrock philosophy, the restaurant embraces fire as both a cooking method and a design narrative, creating a multi-sensory environment where architecture and cuisine merge seamlessly.

Concept & Atmosphere

At its heart, Fireplace by Bedrock celebrates the primal ritual of open-fire cooking. Inspired by Argentina’s traditional Asado culture, the restaurant is more than a place to dine — it is a stage for culinary theatrics and storytelling.

Guests are welcomed into a sequence of spaces that engage every sense:

  • A lush terrace with retractable canopy for al fresco dining.

  • A dynamic show kitchen where chefs orchestrate wood-fired creations.

  • A main dining hall centered around the fire itself, with tactile materials that envelop guests in warmth.

  • A semi-private dining room, layered with bespoke art and handcrafted design elements for intimate gatherings.

Materiality & Details

The interiors are rooted in earth-inspired materials, reflecting the narrative of fire, timber, and stone:

  • Timber and patinated zinc accents evoke the primal rawness of Asado grilling.

  • Custom rammed earth finishes, developed with Clayworks (London), draw inspiration from the rings and tones of the Argentine Quebracho tree, traditionally used for wood-fired ovens.

  • Floor-to-ceiling dry-aging showcase and wine display double as sculptural elements, merging function with storytelling.

  • Metal mesh curtains and handcrafted Bali leather art installations enhance the semi-private dining space.

  • A bold brass pendant light by Paola Navone punctuates the design with artisanal flair.

The tactile richness of wood, stone, earth, and metal creates an atmosphere that is immersive, grounded, and timeless.

Culinary Theater & Guest Experience

The layout positions the open fire as the centerpiece, around which guests dine, watch, and engage with the cooking process. This culinary theater transforms each meal into a performance — flames crackling, aromas rising, and chefs working in harmony with elemental forces.

  • Grand displays: The dry-aging meat showcase and wine cellar function as focal points, embodying both Bedrock’s culinary heritage and the narrative-driven design ethos of Hot Design Folks Studio.

  • Indoor-outdoor connection: A retractable canopy terrace surrounded by greenery brings the Asado tradition outdoors, echoing communal cooking in natural landscapes.

  • Intimate settings: The semi-private dining space provides balance, offering quiet exclusivity without sacrificing the fire-centered storytelling.

Design Narrative

For Hot Design Folks Studio, Fireplace by Bedrock is a statement of design-led hospitality. Every element — from material palettes to spatial choreography — supports the brand’s ethos: celebrating fire, flavor, and camaraderie.

The restaurant embodies form and narrative in sync:

  • Form: a contemporary restaurant crafted from timber, stone, and patinated metals.

  • Narrative: a celebration of fire’s role in human connection, cuisine, and culture.

This interplay ensures that the restaurant is not just a place to eat, but an immersive cultural experience.

The Fireplace by Bedrock Restaurant in Singapore is a striking example of how architecture, storytelling, and gastronomy can come together to craft a holistic sensory journey. Designed by Hot Design Folks Studio, it honors the primal spirit of fire while weaving it into a contemporary hospitality setting.

Here, architecture is not just a backdrop — it is a collaborator in the culinary experience, creating a dining destination that celebrates earth, fire, and the shared ritual of food.
