Topway Space Design has transformed the new Kabel Chinese Headquarters in Foshan, China into a poetic environment where color, art, and technology converge. Completed in 2023, the 1,000 m² showroom is conceived as both a corporate headquarters and a color-themed art gallery, offering visitors a sensorial journey into Kabel’s world of art paints.
Inspired by the Artist’s Brushstroke
The concept takes inspiration from the flowing motion of a paintbrush. Curved walls swirl through the space like free brushstrokes or a dancer’s movements, evoking creativity in motion. Each curve represents an artistic moment, embodying Kabel’s spirit of imagination and innovation.
At the lobby, round acrylic lights suspended overhead resemble colorful stars. Their glow washes across walls and floors, transforming the hall into a dreamlike, cosmic landscape. The installation introduces visitors to a world where color is the protagonist.
Light as Poetry
Light plays a leading role in the spatial narrative:
-
Acrylic lights scatter rhythmically, creating starry compositions.
-
Shadows and reflections interact with the curved surfaces, producing cinematic atmospheres.
-
Light and color together form a rainbow bridge between visitors and exhibits, guiding exploration.
This poetic use of light turns the showroom into a stage where architecture, art, and paint products perform together.
Exploring the Infinite Palette
Beyond physical displays, Kabel’s showroom embraces digital tools and virtual reality. Visitors can:
-
Transform subtle hues into unique digital artworks.
-
Immerse themselves in a virtual universe of colors, experiencing paint beyond its material form.
This innovation highlights the company’s future-oriented identity, merging traditional art materials with digital frontiers.
Music, Movement, and Color
At the core of the material selection zone stands a grand piano, symbolizing harmony between music and color. Its black-and-white keys resonate with the painted surfaces around it, creating a multisensory dialogue.
Meanwhile, curved walls intersect like dancers on a stage. Their fluid, streamlined forms evoke shooting stars or flowing rivers, harmonizing with Kabel’s paint products—microcement, microcrystalline cement, Milan velvet, and Breya. Each material contributes a distinct atmosphere:
-
Microcement – simple and natural.
-
Microcrystalline cement – modern and technological.
-
Milan silk velvet – luxurious and elegant.
-
Breya – dreamy and ethereal.
Nature, Rest, and Reflection
The showroom is also designed as a retreat within the city. A leisure area with comfortable seating and greenery offers moments of calm and relaxation. The design suggests a mountain valley, with slanting shadows and a natural fragrance evoking serenity.
The DIY experiment zone, shaped like a Tree of Colors, invites visitors to mix and explore pigments. Transparent glass test tubes filled with colorful solutions hang like ornaments, symbolizing Kabel’s inspiration drawn from nature.
In the water bar area, an “inverted forest of light” installation filters daylight through glass brick walls, merging black, white, and green in a poetic play of shadow. This space encourages meditation and introspection, embodying Kabel’s vision of art as a dialogue between body, mind, and nature.
Why This Project Matters
The Kabel Chinese Headquarters is more than a showroom—it’s a multi-sensory journey into the world of color. By weaving together artistic form, technological innovation, and natural inspiration, Topway Space Design has created a space that is at once immersive, symbolic, and functional.
It demonstrates how brand headquarters can transcend corporate identity to become cultural experiences, where architecture communicates not just what a brand sells, but what it represents: creativity, imagination, and innovation.
