The Right Bathroom Countertop Height

Have you ever stopped to think that there is an ideal bathroom bench height for each property? Yes, although many architects consider it a standard measurement, this height needs to be evaluated from who inhabits or uses the property.

Keep following the post with us and discover the ideal bathroom counter height for your home.

How to calculate bathroom counter height

As a rule, the standard bathroom counter height is usually between 90cm and 94cm high. However, the recommended thing is to take the average height of the residents of the residence, so that the bench is not low, nor too high. For a residence where the height of the residents varies between 1.60m and 1.70m, it is recommended that the bathroom countertop is about 85cm to 95cm from the floor.

In a house for taller people, with measurements ranging from 1.70 m to 1.80 m, the bathroom bench must be installed at about 1.10 m from the floor. But if the average height of the residents does not exceed 1.60 m in the property, then the sink countertop must be installed at a maximum of 75 cm to 80 cm from the floor.

Children’s bathroom counter height

And the kids? For them, it is also important to perform the proper calculation of the height of the bathroom countertop.

In general, it is recommended that a bathroom bench be installed about 40cm to 60cm from the floor so that the child can use the sink in comfort and safety. This measure is indicated for children who are starting self-care and the notions of personal hygiene, usually around 2 years of age.

The use of faucets with registration on the base is also more indicated to facilitate access, but prefer those that are easy to open and close, since the child’s motor coordination is still in development.

Built-in sinks are also more recommended, as they offer more comfort and prevent the child from having to stand on tiptoe. Over time, it is important to adjust the height of the bathroom sink countertop again, so that it follows the child’s development and growth. From the age of ten, on average, children can comfortably and safely reach a bathroom bench recommended for an adult of average height.

Children with special needs and who use a wheelchair must have bathroom benches with a standard height suitable for wheelchair users, that is, about 78 cm from the floor.

Did you write it all down? Now just plan the height of the bathroom bench with all the comfort and functionality for your family.
