Crib models – Types & Creative Ideas

Faced with the various crib models available to decorate the baby’s room, indecision is quite common. As the place where the baby spends most of his time, it is important to choose a model that offers, first and foremost, comfort and safety.

In different sizes and designs, there are always options that best fit the needs of the space and also the preferences of the family in terms of decoration.

If you have trouble making a decision about which crib to choose, know that we have the solution. In this post, we have gathered the main crib models and what to consider when buying your baby’s crib.

Main models of cribs

Oval crib

The oval crib is the preferred option for those looking for an alternative to the traditional rectangular crib and brings more light to the decor.

Composed of a structure with two half moons and two straight sides, the oval crib transforms as the baby grows. When he’s smaller, the two half moons come together to create a mini round crib, which has the look of a nest. When it starts to grow, the two sides are added and the crib finally takes on its oval shape and its full size. And, when the baby already has more autonomy, it is possible to remove the sides and turn them into a bed.

Mini crib

The “mini” in the name already indicates that this is a more compact model and, therefore, suitable for newborns. Another characteristic that both types of cribs have in common is that they can be moved around the house. But, in the case of the mini crib, mobility is restricted to the domestic environment, as there is no way to transport it in the car.

Still, this is a great choice to accommodate the couple’s bedroom and ensure that the little one can sleep close to his parents in his first moments.

Traditional crib

When talking about a crib, the first image we have is that rectangular model made of wood that has meshed sides: this is the traditional crib. As it is a spacious crib, the baby will be able to use it for a long time without the parents worrying about having to change it.

Currently, the traditional crib can be found in two patterns: the Brazilian and the American. The difference between the two is in the measurement. While the Brazilian one measures 130 cm long x 60 cm wide, the American standard is a little bigger; It measures 130 cm long x 70 cm wide.

This difference may not seem like a big deal, but it does make a difference as the mattress and sheet set are made to exact standards. So, when buying everything, keep an eye on the measurements!
