How To Make The Most Of A Small Bathroom

We cannot increase the meters of your bathroom, but we can make it seem more spacious and clear. To achieve this, three rules never fail a custom distribution, an organized space, and playing with verticality.

  • Design a custom distribution of the space and you. No, in elongated bathrooms, one in line is better, while in squares, one in U. Do not forget to create a clear central area or a wide corridor, which allows you to move comfortably. Keep in mind that a sliding door will also free up space.
  • Everything in order. An organized and ‘clean’ space looks more spacious and, according to Marie Kondo, makes us happier. Try to clear the countertop and have everything in its place, so that you can easily find what you are looking for.
  • Vertically. Take advantage of the space that the walls give you to store vertically and play with the height, both with custom solutions and with shelves, hooks, and supports.

Light colors

Beige, cream, green, and, of course, white, are indisputable allies of small bathrooms since they make the meters grow and enhance the luminosity. So that the white does not turn cold, play with the mixture, as in this proposal by the interior designer Raúl Martins, with golden accessories, black flooring, the green of the plants … Details that also add sophistication and style.

Furniture with capacity

It is about making the most of the space with furniture that does not occupy and has the storage capacity to store both towels and jars of gel and shampoo and other bathroom products. Choose better models with clean linesshallow, preferably with drawers instead of doors, suspended … Sometimes, five centimeters can make a difference.

Shower instead of bathtub

Although there is nothing more appealing than taking a relaxing bath on the weekends, the truth is that the bathtub has no place in the XS spaces. The shower is more functional on a day-to-day basis, increases visual meters, especially if it is at ground level or is made of the same material as the floor, and is suitable for the whole family. If in doubt, remember that replacing your old bathtub with a shower can take a day and think about the last time you took a bath: more than six months ago?

A magic mirror

They add depth, multiply natural light, and spread it to every corner, and, without a doubt, we cannot live without them, since they are key to our hygiene and beauty routine. With a frame, they ‘occupy’ more visually, but they are very decorative. Another good idea is cabinets with mirrored doors

To your measure

The main rule for an XS bathroom to go to L (size XL is still out of reach) is to establish a distribution tailored to your needs, allowing you to use the space for what you really need. In this way, maybe if you have a baby it is worth leaving the bathtub and sacrificing another element, for example. Ask yourself if you are going to use the bidet or if you really need a vanity unit.
