How To Choose Bathroom Tiles And Find the Best Combinations

Colours, shape, size, placement… Choosing bathroom tiles has a lot to do with the style you want to give it, but its finish will also influence the perception of space, something fundamental if the bathroom is small. We give you several tips so that choosing bathroom tiles does not become a headache.

HOW IS YOUR BATHROOM?

Before choosing any tile for your bathroom walls, you have to ask yourself several questions: is it small? Do I want it to look bigger? Does it have natural light or is it dark? If you ask yourself all these questions you can narrow down the search a lot. Think that there are tiles of all sizes, styles, and colours and even differ in materials.

TILE MATERIALS: WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?

There are many types of bathroom tiles depending on the material. We review the most popular:

  • Ceramic tiles: they are the cheapest bathroom tiles and, consequently, the most used. They offer easy maintenance
  • Porcelain tiles: although they are similar to ceramic tiles, their price is higher. They are also easy to clean.
  • Porcelain stoneware tiles: their success lies in the number of finishes they offer. Although they are somewhat more expensive than the previous ones, they have zero porosity and are very durable.
  • Glass tiles: their price is higher than that of ceramic or porcelain. They are also easy to maintain and clean.

FLOOR TILES: BETTER NON-SLIP

When choosing the tiles to cover the bathroom floor, you will have to take into account their non-slip level (a factor that is not important when choosing the model for the walls). Being a wet room, you must ensure that there are no slips or falls. For the bathroom, you will need them to have a C2 anti-slip level. You can also choose level C3 if you are going to cover the shower floor with them.

WHAT COLOR DO I CHOOSE THE TILES?

Everything will depend on the size and the amount of light that your bathroom has. Thus, in dark bathrooms or with many wooden elements, like this rustic bathroom, the ideal is to choose light-coloured tiles that reflect all the light they receive. If, in addition, they have a gloss finish (instead of matte or satin), the effect will be greater.

HOW TO COMBINE BATHROOM TILES

When it comes to choosing and combining bathroom tiles, you have many options: choosing different ones for the shower area, covering the floors with a more striking tile or even creating a minimalist border to decorate the walls.

GIVE THE SHOWER A DIFFERENT TOUCH

Currently, it is a trend in the bathroom to combine different tiles in the shower area and the rest of the bathroom. In this way, not only is it possible to better define the decorative style you have chosen, but it is also a resource that helps to give depth and a feeling of spaciousness in the bathroom.
