La Canada Residence by Jamie Bush & Co.

Jamie Bush & Co. are responsible for the design of this gorgeous contemporary home called the La Canada Residence which stands in the foothills of the La Cañada Flintridge in California, USA.
The 5,000 sq ft home is built from glass, steel, redwood and stone which evoke its mid-century predecessor which had been in poor condition and over time, it fell into complete disrepair.
The owners have decided to start from scratch so they have spent six years to perfect their new home which is a homage to the original.

From the architects: “Set in the foothills of La Cañada Flintridge, California, this 5,000 square foot modern home was built from glass, steel, redwood and stone to evoke its mid-century predecessor, which had been in poor condition and, over time, fallen into complete disrepair. In fact, the owners spent six years to perfect their home: an homage to the original but with major aesthetic and technological improvements to guarantee longevity.”

“The main focus of this project was to create a house that was built from the outside in, so the material selections, color palette and configuration of the planes of the house and detailing were chosen to work on the exterior first and then were pulled inside the house.
The decor is a mix of textured natural, neutral color and a materials palette with select and strategic pops of color throughout for a sense of surprise.”
