How Can I Make My House Look More Expensive Outside?

When wanting to make their homes look more expensive, many people focus on upgrading the interiors of their home. While it’s crucial to do so, enhancing your property’s exterior is also, if not more, essential. When you think about it carefully, the outside of your home is what most people will see. If you have a beautiful exterior, they don’t need to step inside for you to make a good impression.
Now the question is, how do you improve your outdoors to make your home look expensive? Do you need a big budget to do so? Not necessarily. Here are some easy and exterior and increase its curb appeal.

Gardening and Landscaping

Your yard is an extension of your home and should be treated as such. To make your yard look expensive, you first need always to maintain it. If possible, cover it with green grass. While it’s not always possible, due to the difficulty of maintaining grass, there are other alternatives. For instance, you can use fake grass instead. You can also use stone paths and stone pavements to decrease the grass area.

Aside from the front yard, you may also want to create a beautiful backyard. There are quite a few ways to do it. One is by installing a deck, not for the aesthetics, but added comfort as well.

Many choose composite decking as they are easier to maintain and can last longer than traditional wooden decks.

A garden on both your backyard and front yard also makes your home look more expensive. When designing a garden, go with carefully placed mulches and rocks for a stylish look. Go with easy to maintain flowers, such as lilies and cosmos. And finally, consider planting trees. Not only will your house look expensive, but it will also add value to your property.

Update Doors and Windows

The first things people will see when they come close to your home are the front door and the windows. Some even consider them the face of your home, the first things that people base their impressions of. So even an effective “facelift” can considerably enhance your home’s aesthetics.
When updating your front door, consider the overall style you want, and decide from there. Do you want a grand and sophisticated entrance? Or perhaps a simple yet chic opening? As for the windows, consider matching it with the design you picked for the doors.
Of course, there are other benefits of updating your old doors, aside from making your home look expensive. Problems, such as air and water leaks, can be solved by updating the doors and the windows.

Add or Change Colours

After replacing the doors, you may want to change the colours of your home’s exterior. Of course, you’ll want a cohesive look by matching it with the updated windows and doors. But what if you can’t decide which colour to use?
Some of the most expensive-looking homes sport a neutral colour palette. Shades of whites, beiges, and greys work wonders on the exterior. Not only do they give a classy and expensive look, but they also go well with most types of designs. You can also pull off unique colours as long as you know what you’re doing.

Install Some Lighting

Naturally, you want to make your house look expensive all-day long. And without proper lighting, your home can be difficult to see during the night time. Like paint, different kinds of light can produce various effects. For instance, dimmer and softer lights can give your home a more relaxed look, while brighter lights can give off a lively atmosphere. For the lighting, you can use string lights, lanterns, and even DIY ones.
However, there are a few things you may want to remember when setting up lights. As with everything else, there is too much of a good thing. You don’t want it to be too dim for people to see, nor too bright to look at during the night. You may also want to steer clear from colourful lights, as they often look like seasonal decorations.
