Catskill Mountain House by Audrey Matlock

The Catskill Mountain House, as it was named, extends the idea of a family home with its transparent panoramic deck with extremely beautiful panoramic views. Designed by Audrey Matlockknowledge, technology and dedication were the main tools in building this residence.
The 3,700 sq ft modern residence features extensive glass walls that visually bring the nature inside.

From the architects: “This classically modern retreat is situated on a steep hillside, sheltered from the north rock slope by a cast concrete wall. It faces southward to expansive views of a reservoir and the surrounding Catskill Mountains. To fully engage these views we have provided height glazing on three sides.”

“The house has been organized linearly, with a transition from private bedrooms at one and to more public and spacious dining and living spaces at the other. These living spaces open to a large terrace, with an outdoor fireplace, pool, and spa and an extended view of the countryside. A narrow bamboo-lined terrace along the concrete wall connects the three bedrooms to the pool terrace.”

“The interior has few walls and the long spans allow for seamless transitions throughout this open minimalist structure. The floors are heated polished concrete, walls are translucent glass and slate and cabinetry is stained ash.”
